Andrew Hiles has resigned from the post of Club Chairman and is succeeded by Dave Young. The Club's General Committee appointed Young at its November meeting on Thursday evening.
Club President David Walsh said: "We are incredibly grateful for the dedicated work of Andy over four and a half years. We understand Andy's decision and look forward to his continuing presence at the Club.
"The Committee is keen to ensure a smooth succession and we are delighted that Dave has agreed to take on the leadership of the Club with immediate effect. He is a legendary former player and is respected across the Club. Running a successful, famous rugby club which combines a high quality National One squad in the top 40 of English teams, three other senior teams, ten Mini-Junior age group teams and which plays a vital role in the local community, is a very demanding role and we know that all of our Members will back him and other officers in leading the Club forward."
Dave Young became Chairman of Rugby in 2013. He joined Fylde as an 18 year old lock forward directly from Hutton Grammar School in 1974 and went on to make no fewer than 468 1st team appearances in the claret and gold over a 20 year playing career. He has senior local government experience before retiring in 2011. Dave and his wife Alison, an enthusiastic member of the Fylde Ladies & Friends of Fylde group, live in Lytham.
