Wooden Spoon Lancashire West Coast‘s latest project, the Garden Rooms at The Morecambe Road Special School, Morecambe, was officially opened this month on a cold dark Monday morning. The official opening was undertaken by our Honorary President Sir Bill Beaumont CBE, where he addressed a full school assembly and told the children of his forthcoming visit to Buckingham Palace.

A tour of the school followed where Sir Bill was photographed with several groups of children and signed shirts and rugby balls for members of staff. Sir Bill praised the staff and children and the great atmosphere in the school.

Wooden Spoon contributed £25,000 to the two Garden Rooms which will be a fantastic new asset to the school, creating extra space and where groups of children will be able to get out of the main school building and engage in a wide variety of activities. The photo shows Sir Bill outside the Garden Rooms with a few of the children, staff and governors and holding the National RUAble Tag Championship Cup which the school proudly won in 2012.
