Wooden Spoon & Fylde help local children

You may remember that, due to the COVID-19 crisis, the proposed lunch for Fylde Rugby and Wooden Spoon had to be cancelled in March. However, a lot has been happening in the FY area, with Wooden Spoon leading the way.

Wooden Spoon headquarters decided that although income from lunches etc would effectively stop, the Rugby Charity would continue to support children’s charity nationally.

The West Coast Lancashire Committee, of which Fylde Rugby is part, was allocated £5,000 to support local children’s charities who were struggling financially due to the crisis. The Lancashire Committee increased this to £8,000 from its own resources.

Searching locally for some needy children’s organisations that have been hit badly during Covid, it was decided that the £8,000 be donated to “Bugs 2 Butterflies” & the “Blackpool Boys and Girls Club”.

As you all know, monies raised locally are invested in charitable projects locally.

I am certain that all Fylde Rugby members are proud to know how your monies, as part of Wooden Spoon, are still being used.

So far this year, and during the current situation when fundraising events cannot take place, membership of Wooden Spoon becomes even more important. So please join at https://woodenspoon.org.uk/become-a-member and support disadvantaged children.

Alternatively contact myself – and remember to mention that you are a Fylde rugby member.

Keep safe and healthy.
