We are very sad to report the death of one of the Club’s most loyal volunteers, Sheila Townsend.
Chairman Michael Brennand said: “Wife of one of the backbones of the Club, Allan, and, similarly, sons Sean and Patrick, Sheila was much loved and respected by so many people in the Club and local community. She belied her 86 years.
“She was a stalwart volunteer and has been a member since 1956. Over the years she loyally made teas, cooked food, was an important part of the Ladies Committee for many years and until very recently helped out on the Gates at 1st team games. Her death will come as very sad news to so many people at the Woodlands. She had a smile and a friendly word for everyone, a charming lady who will be a great loss.”
We pass on the sincere commiserations to Allan, Sean, Patrick, Alison, grandchildren Oscar and Jacob, other friends and family. The Club’s flag has been lowered in her honour.
