At long last we seem to be making some progress with prospects for a return to rugby as well as the obviously great news about the COVID-19 vaccines. Clearly, Tier 3 status means that we can’t open the Clubhouse at the moment but there is hope for the not too distant future.
We are making progress in all areas of the Club’s administration and an updated website and a revamped database will make communication easier with all our stakeholders
Following my appeal for volunteers in early November, I am delighted to report we were inundated with offers of help from many very talented people … well over 20 responses. This is a excellent measure of people’s commitment to the Club, its values and its role in the local community. We have been grounded in this community for a hundred years and the affection and respect for the Club is shining through in these tough times.
In order to improve communication with our new volunteers, Rebecca Nickson will be contacting all those who have responded to chat through their availability. Roger Westbrook is our Volunteers Co-ordinator for all work outside the Clubhouse – maintenance, car parking and scoreboard. Rebecca will look after all indoor-based volunteers
This communication gives me the opportunity to thank many of those who are already helping, in no particular order:
Jamie Griffin – website redevelopment
Amanda Butterfield – website redevelopment
Sue Garrod – Shop
Dave Kerr – multiple roles at the club
Ian Garrod has kindly agreed to manage our health and safety issues at this challenging time. If anyone has any concerns or questions regarding any of these please can they email the secretary at email@example.com and this will be passed to Ian who will respond
Further great news is that Dave Young, our former Chairman who has now taken on the Chairman of Rugby role, has secured an excellent sponsorship deal for this season and the next two seasons. We will be announcing this soon.
Very best wishes to everyone – Members and followers alike – in the coming festive season, despite the restrictions. Please stay safe!
Chairman, Fylde RFC
