Two more players, Phill Mills and Elliot Horner, have re-signed for the 2021-22 season – here’s what they’ve been up to during the lockdown.
First of all, flanker Mills:
“Having not had the weekly routine of training nights and Saturday games for just over a year, it has been strange! I have found myself running, walking and bike rides to keep myself from losing the plot.
“The day before the first lockdown came into effect, I had a new arrival of a little girl! The various lockdowns have given me plenty of special times with my little one, a precious experience. So I try to take a positive outlook on the events.
“From being made redundant from the RFU, and with many other jobs being lost, I also had the chance to come on board as the Head of Community at the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation. Since starting with the Foundation we have delivered on a variety of community projects including food bank drop offs, laptop and tablet donations to local schools and free school meal deliveries to the homes of disadvantaged families. Additionally, we’ve been running some very successful Rugby and Multi-Sport camps.”
What about prop forward and master brewer Elliot Horner?
“So since the season broke up last year, we’ve been busy. In September we launched our second product (Soul Lager) which sold out within a week and is now the highest rated lager in the UK (https://untappd.com/b/cannabrew-soul-lager/4015936). Since then, our stockists can’t seem to get enough of it and keep drinking us dry! I then ran a marathon from Kirkham to Lancaster just before Christmas to raise money for the charity Ecologi.
“As a company we plant two trees for every case of beer we sell which makes us carbon-neutral and we hit the 14,000 tree mark in January. This is our forest https://ecologi.com/cannabrew)
“Then we launched a virtual reality brewery tour – we’re the first brewery to do this and it’s meant we can keep on pitching to customers and growing.
“We are now gearing up towards our crowdfunding event on Seedrs to take the company to new heights!”
