Fylde 1st XV squad’s first pre-season training session at the Woodlands took place on Tuesday evening under Phase C of the RFU’s Return to Rugby Roadmap for the Community Game.
Players’ temperatures were checked on arrival and socially distanced, non-contact training involving a maximum of 20 players followed under the close supervision of Head Coach Warren Spragg and Assistant Coaches Alex Loney and Chris Briers.
Medical and support staff, suitably masked, were on hand for simple assistance to the players.
The development of the training routines will depend on RFU and Government advice as Phases D, E and F are approved. Phase F, whenever that is approved, will allow full contact, competitive league rugby.
Warren Spragg said: “It felt great to have the lads back at the Club tonight. We’ve been diligently working through the guidelines to make sure we can return to training safely and set the right example for other teams at the Club. I just hope we can move through the stages quickly as we are all desperate to get out on the pitch and compete again!”
