A great day for Tom Riley and his family

By May 25, 2021Latest News

Former Fylde RFC Junior Tom Riley successfully passed out of the Royal Marines 301 Troop Kings Squad on Friday and did so with aplomb, winning the prestigious Kings Award for his performance. His family, father David, Michelle and Tom’s sisters Rachel, Isobel and Tess were all in attendance to celebrate the occasion.

The Rileys and extended family have been associated with Fylde RFC for generations. Tom played junior rugby. Father David played for the 1st XV. Michelle’s parents, David and Sandra Roberts, are his Nana and Poppa and Sandra is Rex Blackledge’s sister. Rex was another great Fylde Clubman. David Roberts was a lieutenant commander in the Navy so they are particularly proud.

Tom’s achievements strengthen the connection between the Club and the Royal Marines, with vice captain David Fairbrother, a notable member of his regiment.

Tom, many congratulations and best wishes from everyone at the Club!
