In what is hoped will be the start of a new era of rugby
development for 7-12 year olds at Fylde, the Sales Sharks Community Trust team
along with our very own Fylde Community Coaching team ran a joint rugby development
camp for the first time ever this half-term here at the Woodlands.
Over 40 young players from all over Lancashire signed up for the 2-day rugby
camp which featured various games and activities designed to improve all
aspects of their play. Coaches from both
organisations ran and organised the challenging but fun sessions based on
developing attributes of the Sharks DNA – Creative Attacker, Defensive Warrior,
Relentless Athlete and Best Teammate.
Each player who attended not only received a Sale Sharks training t-shirt but also had the opportunity to meet with and get their shirt signed by current Sharks 1st team player and Fylde RFC legend and ex Mini-Junior (fly-half!) Josh Beaumont. Josh spent over an hour with the youngsters assisting with coaching, running a sometimes hilarious Q&A session and signing autographs and posing for pictures. A truly aspirational figure and brilliant role model for all MJ players.
Plans are already in place for the next joint camp with the Sharks early next year and in the meantime our Fylde Community team will be organising a 1 day Christmas rugby camp featuring some of our senior players and coaches to be held shortly after schools break up in December, more details to follow!
