The Fylde Hawks take on Chester 2nds this coming Saturday at the Woodlands in what is only their second home game of the season.
Chester currently sit at the top of the Halbro Cotton Traders Premier League table on 28 points, with the Hawks in second place on 24 points. So far this season, Chester have the highest ‘points for’, with the Hawks having the ‘least points scored against’ them in the league. The Hawks are also the second highest points scoring team in the league after Chester.
Chester 2s were outstanding champions of the Premier League last season and are carrying on in much the same fashion this season. The Hawks on the other hand have a much improved record, with five victories in six league matches to date, more than the whole of last season. Memories will still be sharp of the hiding the Hawks suffered in the equivalent game last season
The Hawks name a strong squad despite the unavailability of regular forwards James Torkington, Matt Ashcroft and Luke Clitheroe. There’s a very welcome return following illness to Lancashire U’20s flanker Toby Harrison, and, also in the backrow, to debutant Jacob Conner, formerly from the Northampton Saints Academy.
15 Dan Jones; 14 Lex Botha, 13 Ralph Dowds, 12 Brett Whitehead, 11 Jake Foster; 10 David Reed, 9 Adam Lanigan; 1 Jonny Wild, 2 Blake Wilkinson, 3 Tom Fox, 4 Karl Capstick, 5 Tom Steer, 6 Jacob Conner, 7 Toby Harrison, 8 Jamie Griffin (c).
16 Craig Whalley-Hunter, 17 Will Atkinson, 18 Henry Pearson, 19 Kyle Macauley.
On Saturday the Hawks need YOU to create a 16th man atmosphere by being vocal and supporting the players. Undoubtedly, this game is of critical importance to both sides and it’s expected to be a blockbuster of a contest.
KO is at 15.00hrs, Entrance is FREE, the BAR is OPEN. Please make the effort to get to the game and enjoy high quality rugby.
