Fylde Hawks play their first home Cotton Traders Premier game of the season when Chester 2s visit the Woodlands on Saturday (ko 3pm). The Hawks won at Firwood Waterloo (34-52) in their opening game of the season but then lost narrowly at Caldy (17-25) and Preston Grasshoppers (33-40).
Their opponents have had a superb start to the campaign with three wins (at Caldy and home to Sedgley Park and Macclesfield) so the Hawks face a very tough challenge.
Hawks Manager Ian Pearson said: “Chester 2s have had a great start to the season, with 3 wins from 3. The Hawks performance this season have shown some real talent and potential. However, we really need to reduce our errors, as in this league all the teams are capable of capitalising on the opponents’ mistakes. I’m very confident that it will be a great game and an opportunity for spectators to watch some exciting rugby.”
The squad is:
15 George Brookes; 14 Sam Fisher, 13 Matthew Bargh, 12 Lewis Patterson, 11 Stanley Graham; 10 Josh Melvin, 9 Jake Christmann; 1 Andy Stevens, 2 Luke Woodward, 3 Josh Oldland, 4 Connor Scrivens, 5 Gregor Aitken (C), 6 James Torkington, 7 Tom Beresford, 8 Jamie Griffin.
16 Alex Preston (FR), 17 Tom Benstead, 18 Christian Williams.
Entrance is free and a fine, competitive game is in prospect. With the 1st team on their travels at Plymouth Albion, the Club are hoping for a decent crowd at the Woodlands to support these excellent young players.
