Remembrance Day: an appeal to Veterans

An appeal by Fylde President Jeff Gould

Fylde RFC has a long affiliation with HM Armed Forces, with a number of Fylde members listed as casualties of the First and Second World Wars through to one of its 1st XV players who is currently serving as an elite Royal Marines Commando.  As a Royal Air Force veteran  myself, I believe that it is highly appropriate that our during our club Centenary season, we host a special Remembrance Sunday event at the Woodlands on Sunday 10 November 2019.

We are currently maturing exciting plans for Remembrance Sunday which will include a Fylde XV match against a Royal Air Force XV during the afternoon and a special pre-match lunch for veterans to be held in the Woodlands Suite.  During the day, Fylde RFC will show its continued commitment to supporting our Armed Forces by publicly signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

I would like to see the largest possible number of veterans and current serving members of the military  at Fylde RFC on the day. All these veterans who are Club members are invited to a pre-match lunch ahead of the game, courtesy of the Club. Please contact Allan Townsend to register for the lunch on 07960 139826 or email Places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
