Hawks v ‘Hoppers at the Woodlands today; Sarries & Vandals also in action

Fylde Hawks welcome Preston Grasshoppers 2nds to the Woodlands today (ko 3pm). Here is Manager Ian Pearson’s preview:

On behalf of the Hawks team today, we would like to welcome Preston Grasshoppers 2nds, whom we would consider our fieriest rivals and closest friends. Preston Grasshoppers 2nds experiences this season have been very similar to the Hawks, in terms of the squad develops and results.  Clearly, Chester 2nds are the stand out team in the Cotton Traders Premier League this season.  Hoppers have developed a young squad this season and like the rest of the league have shown that anyone can beat any of the other teams in the league.

This will be the 4th and final game we play against Hoppers 2’s this season and the bragging rights sit with the Hawks, winning two of the three games. The aggregate scores prior to this game are Hawks 90 – 69 Hoppers 2’s.

All three games with Hoppers 2’s this season have seen lots of young talent on display and are often closely contested games, played at pace.

Several players from both sides will also be representing Lancashire U20’s tomorrow against Northumberland U20’s at Wigan RUFC, so whilst battling for the win today, will become team mates the following day.  One thing that we can guarantee is that the future of Lancashire County rugby looks good and, for a preview, why not take a few moments to come and watch the game.

After today’s game, we have two home fixtures remaining and your continued support will be most welcome.

Ian Pearson (Hawks Manager)
