Fylde’s and Rossendale’s respective 1st team squads held a joint training session at the Woodlands tonight as part of their pre-season preparations.
What did the two Head Coaches think of the exercise?
Warren Spragg: “It was a really productive session for us and done in the right spirit. ‘Dale have strengthened in the off season and look to be in good shape for the campaign ahead, making it a really good test for us. It has highlighted a few areas that we need to tidy up going into Saturday and some other things which seem to be working well. But Hull Ionians will be another step up and I’m excited to see how we go against them!”
Mark Nelson: “An excellent joint training evening! Both sets of players and coaches really bought into testing their set piece and in the backs running lines and creating space. When the teams came together and went through attack and defence we both got a tremendous amount of positivity by being able to test your principles of play and shape against players who don’t know what’s coming. This is virtually impossible in in-house sessions.
“Warren Spragg ran / refereed the team run and set piece with great aplomb which allowed both sets of players to get a great deal out of the evening.
“I would like to thank Fylde for hosting us and Nigel Wild for putting on food for all concerned before we travelled back to the valley. Well, the players did. I hopped over the wall to Ansdell!! Great session.”
