Sir Bill Beaumont celebrated his Knighthood with family and friends at the Woodlands on the evening of Wednesday, 27th March. With the BBC’s John Inverdale in the MC role, distinguished guests from the rugby and sporting world travelled from far and wide to honour Fylde RFC’s most famous son.
These included Ian Ritchie, Peter Wheeler, Steve Smith, Sir Ian Botham, Brian & Helen Ashton, Mike Dixon, John Spencer, Dusty Hare, Gareth Davies, Nigel Melville, Brett Gosper and Richard Trickey.
Fylde’s hospitality partners Campbell & Rowley provided a fantastic ‘fine dining’ menu – an experience that would never be bettered at any other rugby club!
There was great rugby banter amongst more than 100 guests and so much laughter into the early hours.
As Club Chairman Dave Young, former 2nd row partner, said, Fylde RFC was honoured that Sir Bill chose the Club to hold this private event and delighted that everyone enjoyed the evening. The highlight for this writer was the speech by former England international centre and British Lions Manager, John Spencer, who paid a brilliant tribute to his old school friend.
This was a glorious evening.
