With a week’s break in National League action, attention switches to the NOWIRUL leagues. Fylde Hawks welcome Caldy 2s to the Woodlands for an attractive Premier League fixture (ko 14.15). Caldy have had an excellent season, battling it out with fellow Cheshire club, Chester, for the championship of the division. Whilst they trail Chester by seven points, there are still six fixtures outstanding, including the following Saturday when they meet at Hare Lane. Emphasising the Cheshire dominance, the two clubs also battle it out in the semi-final of the Brooke Edgley Specialist Technical Services Cup in mid-March.
There have been three matches between the Hawks and Caldy so far this season. The two games at Paton Field have resulted in home wins, 25-17 & 45-7, whilst there was a 17-all draw at the Woodlands just before Christmas.
On the back of an excellent win at Macclesfield last Saturday, the Hawks go into the game with a real chance of upsetting the applecart.
Why not come to the Woodlands to cheer the young Hawks squad on, and stay to watch the Scotland v England 6 Nations contest afterwards (a 16-45 kick off) in the Clubhouse?
The Hawks line-up is:
15 John Taylor; 14 Jake Foster, 13 Luke Fowden, 12 Tom Perrin, 11 James Bailey; 10 Henry Pearson, 9 Kyle Macauley; 1 Andy Stevens, 2 Blake Wilkinson, 3 Dan Richardson, 4 Karl Capstick, 5 Gregor Aitken (C), 6 Tom Steer, 7 Adam McCarthy, 8 Jamie Griffin.
16 Tom Fox, 17 Mark Capstick, 18 Charlie Cadley.
The Vandals are also in action when they travel to Vale of Lune 4ths in Division 4 (North). The Vandals are in 6th place in the league, Vale are 9th.
