Fylde Hawks begin their Premier Conference A fixtures by welcoming old rivals Chester 2nds to the Woodlands on Saturday (ko 14.15). The Hawks finished in 4th place in the Premier League, with Chester in 2nd spot, before it split in the New Year into two six team conferences. Premier Conference A is made up of six teams – the Hawks, Caldy, Chester, Macclesfield, Sedgley Park and Preston Grasshoppers.
The two earlier matches between the teams this season were high scoring affairs and produced some excellent rugby. In October the Hawks produced probably their best performance of a very positive season when they were victorious by 47-27 at the Woodlands. The return at Hare Lane in December went the other way, with Chester winning 43-10.
Chester have rather dominated the Premier League in the last few seasons but the Hawks now have a squad able to challenge them seriously. The Hawks have had a slow beginning to 2019, with just one match, at Vale of Lune, which they won 17-33. Sale pulled out of the Hawks’ next fixture so they will be anxious to get back playing competitive rugby once again as they face ten games to finish their season.
Everyone associated with the Hawks would appreciate a big crowd to cheer them on in this important fixture. Please come to the Woodlands and support the lads!
