Firstly I would like to thank all of you for your support of this event. I have held off for as long as possible to gather feedback from attendees and to understand Government advice and company policies.
Whilst there was a real desire to carry on if at all possible, it has now become very clear that the situation has progressed to the point where we will need to accept the inevitable.
I have now been able to speak to the venue, the caterers, our speakers and sponsors and regrettably can confirm that the Wooden Spoon / Fylde RFC Partnership Charity Lunch on Friday March 27th has been postponed.
I will explore possibilities for a re-scheduling of the event, either later this year or indeed a year from now, depending on developments, and will provide you all with advance notice.
Those who have already paid, your payment is sitting securely in a ring-fenced account used exclusively for this event. Please contact the Fylde RFC office and provide the appropriate bank details so that these payments can be returned to you.
Once again, a sincere thank you for your support which means so much to both club and charity and please continue to support both in any way you can, during what promises to be a very difficult time.
Wishing you and your families good health and looking forward to getting together once this is all over.
STATEMENT FROM WOODEN SPOON HQ
We are announcing the postponement of a number of Wooden Spoon events due to the developing situation of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Sarah Webb, CEO said: “Protecting public health and services is our overriding concern. We continue to follow Government guidelines as we move into the “delay phase” and are taking proactive action.
“We know this will be disappointing news for some and where we can, we will be providing alternative dates for the events later in the year.
“COVID-19 will have a significant impact on our fundraising this year which, in turn, will impact the number of projects we can fund to support vulnerable children living in our local communities.
“Therefore, please support us in an alternative way during this difficult time, such as joining our membership scheme or making a donation.”
To see an individual update on each event, visit the WS website. Please note this is live and being updated as we get news on each event from the specific event organisers.
