A close partnership between the University of Central Lancashire & Fylde Rugby Club has been built up in the last five years. The most recent manifestation of this has been the success of the UCLan teams in the BUCS Leagues trained by Fylde coaches & 1st teamers Alan Holmes and Neil Hunter. With two matches left, the 1st team have the splendid record of P18 W16 L2 PF410 PA166 in the Mens League 2A and have already secured the champions title. They lead the equal 2nd placed teams Lancaster University and Keele by 12 points. Click here for the BUCS league table and full results service. 

They play Keele at the Woodlands on Monday 16th March (ko 19.00), at the Woodlands. The lads would appreciate a decent crowd to cheer them on. A number of the UCLan team play Saturday rugby for Fylde including Ryan Miemczyk, Aodhan Carson, Andrew Rosen, Ashley Watts, Scott Udall & Mike Doodson. The University's 2nd team has also had a good season and is 4th in BUCS Division 4A.

Another important link is with the UCLan Women's team who are currently 4th in the BUCS Womens Division 2A. This team is coached by another popular Fylde player, Mark Edwards.

UCLan are sponsoring Fylde's National Schools 7s Tournament in mid-March 2009 for the first time. They also provide advice and support on physical conditioning as well as video recording & analysis service for Fylde's 1st team.
