Fylde's Community Coaching Team have issued a superb report on the 2008/9 Sportsmatch development programme. Every area of the Club's community outreach activities is summarised in this very well presented document.
Year 2 of the programme saw an increased emphasis on coach and volunteer development whilst maintaining and growing year 1 projects.
Significant developments were seen in the women’s, elite player development and school’s parts of the project. Procurement of additional funding has meant two full time development officers can be employed to maximise and grow all areas of the programme. The community project and the club have had a year full of success.
The RFU re-accredited the Mini-junior section with its seal of approval and awarded Fylde with the prestigious ‘Whole Club’ Seal of Approval, making the club the first in the county and one of the first in the country to receive the award. The club was Fylde Borough Council’s ‘Community Club of the Year’ and has been shortlisted for the Lancashire Sport Club of the year award. On the pitch the First XV won the Lancashire Cup as did the under 16 age group. The 3rd XV gained promotion and won the league cup.
