Community rugby update, 10th Feb 2009
January is reserved for development in most Mini-Junior sections so coaches and players can concentrate on training and prepare themselves for the rest of the season’s games. Embracing this time the January coaching workshops have been a great success - 22 coaches from Fylde and Thornton Rugby club attended the workshops which helped 46 young players improve their positional skills. We’d like to thank all the coaches and players for making the workshops a success and especially to those senior players and members of Fylde C.O.R.E for providing demonstrations and coaching.
We have started gym sessions for 15-18 year olds on Monday after school. The lads are really feeling the benefit of having a great gym facility combined with the knowledge and enthusiasm of Chris Butler in return he is increasing his knowledge of music!
Away from the club, Arnold and KEQMS are coming to the end of their 15-a-side season but seeing the start of the 7’s and more rugby for their B teams including the next round of RUFFS league fixtures. Lytham HS year 7’s are favourites for their RUFFS league after being coached by two of the clubs’ Colts players and students at the 6th form, James Hart and Jordan Dale.
Hopefully you will be stopped in the car park on Saturday at the Macclesfield game by a hooded youth demanding money because he has to leave the area next month. I can assure you they are not on the run but fundraising for the Colts Tour next month. We are going to Darlington and playing a curtain raiser before the first team League game on Saturday, 7th March. So please put your hands in your pocket.
It should be a great game on Saturday, so get behind the boys!
