Fylde Senior Floodlit RUFFs League - Arnold School Report

The first round of the Senior Floodlit RUFFs League started brightly on Tuesday evening as Baines School 1st XV, Rossall School 1st XV and Arnold 2nd/3rd XV played out some good matches using the new club facilities.

Against Baines School 1st XV, Arnold’s 2nd/3rd XV played some entertaining rugby, although it did take a while for both teams to adjust to the RUFFs Laws of no kicking in the match. James Craigen, James Cockerill and Matthew Strutte all played well in this first match with Arnold winning 20-5 as they crossed for four tries. Jonathan Wells, Joe Blanthorn, Jack Procter and Chris Withers were the scorers.

The second match for Arnold 2nd/3rd XV was against Rossall School 1st XV. Both teams were keen to spread the ball wide with Joe Cornthwaite, Ashley Harrison, Henry Turner, Ben Nowell and Eddie Chui all showing good touches on the ball. Rossall eventually won by 3 tries to nil but it was great to see Daniel Preston playing again after a long lay off.
