![]() 2008 Beach Rugby Festival to be sponsored by Hobin of Preston The 2nd Fylde RFC beach rugby festival will be held on Saturday 12th July 2008 on St Annes beach. The event is supported by the Rugby Football Union and Fylde Borough Council and will be one of an extensive series of beach rugby events held all over England from mid-May until the end of August. The Club is delighted to announce that the Tournament is being sponsored by Hobin of Preston, the Seat main dealer. We're delighted to welcome this leading car dealership as the newest of the Club's business partners. Why don't you enter a team representing your employer, pub, social club - or just a group of friends? There has been great interest in the tournament so please get your entry forms in as a matter of urgency. Teams from companies, charities, rugby clubs and pubs are amongst those expected to take part. Beach tag rugby is a fast-moving, non-contact invasion game suitable for men and women of all ages to play together where a tackle is replaced by a tag. Its safe, non-contact nature, combined with the fun of the sport and vibrancy of the environment, has meant that beach tag rugby has become one of the RFU's favourite summer sports.
The interchangeable nature of possession,
leading to rapid changes from attacking to defending, means that the game
is developing and improving a wide range of skills. Co-operation,
determination and integration, along with individual and collective
responsibility, are all key elements in the game of beach tag rugby. The aim is to have a good time and as such, there will be no emphasis placed upon winning. The day will end with a barbeque and/or beach party. Please note that the deadline for entries to the Tournament is the 30th June.
