Y7 Schools – Lytham High enjoy a decisive victory over Carr Hill

The Year 7 lads of Carr Hill and Lytham High enjoyed their first fixture of the school year this afternoon in what were muddy and bitterly cold conditions. In total the school squads included 9 of the Fylde U12 squad (6 in the Lytham line up and 3 in the Carr Hill squad).

With the wind behind them the Lytham boys stamped their authority on the game from the whistle and showed that they were more than up for a match. Lytham dominated early possession scoring two quick tries and threatening to score more at will. In defence Carr Hill put on a spirited display, with Cameron MacDonald working tirelessly to minimise damage,  but they had no answer to the pace and relative experience of the Lytham outfit. Late in the first half Will Hodgkins crashed through from a 5 yard line-out for what would be Carr Hill’s only points of the day. At the break Lytham were leading 28 - 5

The second half saw more of the same with Lytham scoring a further 3 unconverted ties to see the final score 43-5

Overall thanks go to the school coaches for their time and support in arranging this fixture. The Fylde Rugby Development team are also due thanks for the support that is being provided to the local schools.
