Old Kirkhamians v Anti-Assassins
OLD KIRKHAMIANS V WOODEN SPOON ANTI-ASSASSINS
SUNDAY 4 OCTOBER 2009
After reaching the final of the Northern Cup at the Manchester 7's over the summer, Kirkham Grammar School Old Boys gathered again to meet The Wooden Spoon Anti-Assassins in their biennial fixture for the Bruce Craven Memorial Trophy. On a perfect day for rugby the crowd was not disappointed as both teams played at a very fast pace from the very start. KGS Old Boys led by captain and full back Chris Stewart moved the ball around and looked as though they had been playing together all season. Even though the Anti-Assassins scored first, KGS produced the more fluent rugby and with backs and forwards inter-linking KGS responded with Matthew Gargett being set free to score just before half-time. Hooker, Johnny Roddam was in outstanding form and was well supported by props Adam Lewis and Harrison Pickervance.Â
Final score   -   KGS Old Boys 33   Wooden Spoon Anti-Assassins  14
