KIRKHAM GRAMMAR SCHOOL RUGBY RESULTS - SATURDAY 6 FEBRUARY 2010
U17's v Sedbergh School
KGS U17's 'A' side played confidently and defended very well in defeating Sedbergh School 5-0 in a Development game. Well captained by David Egelstaff and supported by Bobby Garlington, Matthew Ellis and Jon Evans the forwards won some quality ball which allowed fly half and vice-captain Michael Simmons to direct play. Winger Sam Hall was always a threat and centres Tom Hurst and Chris Kohler were solid in defence. Kohler scored the try after some good forward drives. The U17 B's battled well with Stephen Clough, Robert Malings, Adam Galley, Fraser Burnie and Jack Loxham making pleasing contributions. They defended well for long periods but eventually went down 15-0.
U15A XV v Kirkby Lonsdale
Won 63-0
The U15's were expected to be rusty, having not played any competitive matches for three weeks. However, the team started well, especially the forwards, providing the backs with plenty of possession. Ben Rhodes-Power and Isaac both took advantage, scoring two tries each in the first half.
In the second half, a few of the 'B' team players stepped up to the mark. Callum Paley and Ben McCarthy were tremendous and did not look out of place. The final score 63-0. Special mentions to Liam Swithenbank and Charles Redshaw for their courageous defending.
U14A XV v Kirkby Lonsdale
Won 36-5
A positive and committed performance by both forwards and backs. The front row of Harvey, Davies and Morris scrumaged particularly well. Two tries by Tom Hunter and individual tries by Johnny Chan, Lewis Leech, Pounds and Dan Jones secured a good win. The scrum half Will Lockhart converted three tries.
