Adam Jackson to coach Fylde 2nds
Fylde have appointed former professional lock forward Adam Jackson to its coaching panel with specific responsibility for the Club's 2nd team. Jackson, 39, who was born in Blackpool, has had an illustrious playing career with Orrell, Grenoble, Neath & London Scottish. His primary responsibility will be to coach the 2nd team, traditionally called the Wanderers, but he will have a playing role in the team too. He's a qualified coach and has been involved with the Lancashire U'20s squad alongside Paul Arnold and new recruit Scott Barrow.
Adam Jackson will be working closely with Head Coach Mark Nelson and the 1st & 2nd team players will be constituted as the senior squad and will train together on Tuesdays & Thursdays at the Woodlands. George Brockbank continues as Team Manager and has already had discussions with Adam on organisational priorities and squad building.
Fylde's Chairman of Rugby, Roger Grocott, who has secured Adam Jackson's services, said: “We are putting more resources into the 2nd team as we all realise its importance as a development environment for future 1st team players. We're very grateful for the sterling contribution of Ben Hall who coached the team last season and hope that he'll play for the team in 2012/13. It's up to Adam to take this on now. He's keen that the team plays in the same open, attacking style and with the same ethos as the 1st team. He'll be building on a good crop of young players who have come through the Colts and junior teams and well as recruiting new players who want to develop within the leading club in the North West outside the Premiership. Whilst the 6'6” lock forward is keen to make a contribution on the playing front, he won't be standing in the way of able young players who demand selection."
Adam Jackson said:”I want to develop a healthy competitive squad and to do this players need to be fit & focused on what we want to achieve as a team. Consistent, competitive performances is what am asking for which in turn will see players developing and 1st team opportunities arising.
"I'm looking to develop a positivity around the squad which is visible both on and off the field, and am looking forward to working with Nellie, George and Roger this year."
Adam Jackson is a youth worker for Warrington Borough Council and lives in Newton-le-Willows.
