Best wishes to Sam Russell
Best wishes to Sam Russell
Sam Russell, a product of Fylde's M-Js, Colts & Academy, who made his 1st team debut at 17, was seriously injured playing for Caldy at Loughborough Students on Saturday. He broke two bones in his neck and has spent a couple of nights being assessed in a Leicester hospital.
The good news is that the diagnosis is positive and that he's on the way home tonight (Monday). Sam says on Facebook:
""With new scans and reviews the specialist has said its an old break which isn't dangerous and the second break is just the way my bones have grown, so rest for 4 to 6 weeks and hopefully catch the end of the season! Thank you everyone for the messages just ended up with a brace on for 3 weeks and badly damaged ligaments and tendons and swelling.."
Sam joined Caldy RFC in November, joining another former Fylde favourite Nick King.
Everyone associated with Fylde RFC sends their very best wishes to Sam for a speedy recovery.
