Squads named for Fylde v Tynedale game
Fylde have named a 22-man squad, plus four reserves, for their final pre-season game, against Tynedale at the Woodlands on Saturday, 30th August (ko 15.00). Ahead of Thursday's training session, there were no major injury worries and the squad is likely to be at full strength. The match will be played in a conventional 2x40 minute halves format.
Backs: Mike Waywell, Nick Royle, David Wiseman, Dan Loader, Neil Hunter, Oliver Brennand, Steve Nutt, Craig Aikman, Martin Wallwork.
Forwards: Andrew Irving, Sam Simpson, Darren Clark, Adam Lewis, Alan Holmes, Chris Tyms, Roger Banks, Nick King, Greg Johnson, Dan Bowman, Dave Wilks, Dan Palmer, Sam Beaumont.
Reserves: Mark Stephenson, Alistair Atkinson, Mark Edwards & Matt Hughes
Tynedale's squad includes a handful of new players including former Newcastle Falcons Premiership players Jamie Hoyle (wing) & Eni Gesinde (flanker), winger Peter Cole (ex-Morpeth), hooker Joe Graham (ex-Carlisle) & lock Kevin Showler (ex-Durham City). The latter three have County Championship experience with Northumberland, Cumbria & Durham respectively.
Tyne's star player is probably the immensely promising England U'20 goalkicking fly-half or fullback Rob Miller. Miller had a fine schoolboy record in his native Cumbria, played for local club Aspatria alongside former Fylde skipper Mike Scott and then moved on to Newcastle Falcons & Tynedale. He's already made a number of Premiership appearances for the Falcons.
The visitors will be looking for an improvement in their pre-season form - they have lost both games so far, against Scottish Premiership sides Melrose (24-29) & Boroughmuir.
